WagMore Weekends & Holidays Week

A wonderful chance to enjoy the Cotswolds and spend quality time with your dog. Training days include the morning spent teaching and brushing up on those essential Lifeskills and during the afternoon a more relaxed series of activities, from Energy Classes to Nosework.

We have a range of local accommodation that will take dogs, from camping to B&B and Hotels, and of course the very BEST Cotswold pubs for you to enjoy whilst the dogs dream of their wonderful day.

Clicker Trainers Preparation for CAP Certification  - 5 days

For trainers wanting to prepare for the Competency Assessment Programme at Level 1, 2 or 3.

During the 5 days you will be assessed for the individual criteria, and where needed given guidelines and practice opportunities to improve your skills to meet the required level. To prepare for CAP3 you must already have CAP2 before the course begins.

The training is demanding and suitable for people and dogs with some training experience and familiar with learning in this format and have the required basics of clicker training.

There will be an opportunity to be assessed during the course.

Rehabilitation: Building the Confident Dog  - 5 days

Many dogs find the expectations of our world extremely challenging, which can lead to anxiety related behaviours, such as excessive barking, lunging at strange dogs or people, strange movements or actions. This often escalates and attracts the “aggressive” label.  The behaviour is often a symptom of underlying anxieties, poor coping mechanism, lack of support and understanding from their pack, and reinforcement history of the anxious responses.

This 5 day course will focus on teaching a range of activities to build confidence and self esteem, emergency strategies for unanticipated situations, relaxation procedures, and finding the connection that brings you and the dog together with a foundation for the future.

You can also attend this week as a professional trainer/behaviourist to learn new ideas and exercises for your clients.

This week is suitable for a partnership where the issues are making life less than satisfactory for either partner. One partner is struggling to fit in the square hole, this can be either of you.

The Connection Experience -  3 days

Connection with our dogs is a wonderful feeling but there are times when our worlds collide and we feel the connection is anything but perfect. Our dogs do not understand why they have to give up chasing a squirrel, and we do not understand why they will not be quiet. Connection is about learning how the dog sees the world, and showing them that living in our world is not always about giving up the good things, we have a wealth of really great things we can enjoy with them.

The Connection Experience is 3 days of learning about your dog through many activities, both energising and thoughtful, that deepen the connection through understanding. Finding the balance in your relationship. Exploring fun-credits we can give the dog for the compromises they need to make to live in our world.

This week is suitable for anyone who wants to develop a better relationship. Where life goes along pretty well, but you feel there is something that could be enjoyed more, or a few cracks that need to be filled. No major stresses but perhaps some irritations that could do with removing.

Improve your Training skills Novice -  3 days

Training skills can always be improved, you never finish working on the skills. New ideas come along and demand we up our game. Exciting or depressing? This week (Novice) will look at the range of key skills that enable you and your dog to have a really beneficial relationship. From learning how to balance your reinforcers, learning how to use your training aids, exploring the everyday behaviours and how to improve them, from lifeskills to sports behaviours, we can always improve.

This will be a week of mixed abilities, where often a return to the start turns a good skill into an astounding one. You can train your dog in any suitable activity or teach your dog a range of behaviours “just because you’d love to”.

Improve your Training skills Advanced -  5 days

Now we can really fly. You have a good grasp on clicker training, you can teach quite a lot of behaviours that are strong and reliable. This is the time to invest in the future. Looking at more complex strategies to build behaviours, looking at the complexities behind simple procedures and making subtle changes that prevent inclusion of error in your training program. Build your partnership for performance and setting up opportunities where the dog can astonish you with their innate skills and intelligent mind.

Challenge your understanding and step outside the box. Learn how to develop into a top-class, effective and efficient trainer whilst maintaining a strong connection with your dog.

For the Love of Clicker Training - 3 days

Exploring the very best that clicker training can offer. Teaching a simple behaviour well, teaching complex behaviour with finesse. Building your skills, learning to record progress, analyse your results and give your skills top level efficiency and effectiveness. Examining many of the protocols including, and selecting which are of real use to you. Do you need a variable schedule of reinforcement? Do you need a keep going signal?

Looking at techniques of using clicker training to build confidence, real life skills, meeting the demands of sports, urban life, and balance the “need to” teach behaviours with the “just for the fun of it” behaviours, where your dog has the chance to make you laugh. Learning to set up the decision point, build a background of skills that bring the dog to that point.

“I have to write to tell you how much myself and Uisce enjoyed our Wagmore holiday. It was fantastic fun and an amazing eye opener just to see how quick dogs can learn, I just wish there was similar place in Ireland.
Thanks again for all your help I learned lots and hopefully I will see you again soon. “

“Just to thank you and your team for a fabulous week. Mabel and I enjoyed ourselves so much, and I have learned so many great things. I can now 'park' Oscar the Springer and know he is not devouring someone's lunch! Merlin the collie learned 'tidy' last night - he understood the concept in a couple of minutes and put his toys away :) Mabel stood still for grooming today and let me trim her feet without retreating to her bed to hide - wonderful. And I have started getting together a few different articles to use as target training, and we're going to practise loose lead walking. We're going to have so much fun!

Thanks for making it such an enjoyable week, in an environment where both the dogs and those training could learn happily and comfortably.

See you next year!

Kate and Mabel”
