Two Year Course
Year Two, Trainer Accredited by Kay Laurence.
The second year of the 2 year course is about to open (starting July 10 2018) and I am able to offer 5 places to new folk who would be interested in joining the course at this point. This would not include formal review (from submission of Individual Learning Activities), although participation, posting training videos and engaging in the ClassRoom discussion is very much encouraged by all learners.
Year 1 has covered: Knowledge and record keeping. Constructional feedback, assessment and judgement, personal assessment. Observation and analysis skills, assessment during learning, critical thinking on training behaviours, ethical choices in training. Food as a reinforcer, using markers. Learning effectiveness and emotional components. Precision learning, teaching strategies: directed (guided) & self-directed (non-guided) learning.
Year 2 will cover: Cue reliability; cues to start and end training sessions; cue delivery; adding and changing cues; practising discrimination. Non-food reinforcement; play as a reinforcer; choice in training. Variable schedules of reinforcement and variable reinforcers. Teaching lifeskills; teaching non-lifeskills; integrating a new dog to an existing household of dog(s). Complex behaviours; compound behaviours; adduction; concepts
This is 16 lessons.
ClassRooms will be at 1300–1400 and/or 1800–1900 GMT. You can attend both, either or neither.

2019: Jan 8, 22, Feb 5, 19; Apr 9, 23; May 7, 21;
ClassRooms are posted for each lesson and are forum based opportunities to focus on the specific topics we are studying, along with individual training between lessons.
