This experience is for 12 weeks and the beginning of a lifetime in our online learning community. You will be working with other participants, sharing experience, suggestions and creating ideas and solutions as well as following your own passions.

➤  We shall discover the heart of what your dog enjoys, be curious about the skills and activities we can build together and strengthen resilience for bad weather.

➤  We shall resolve uncertainties, balance the extremes and find enthusiasm for learning new pathways.

➤  We shall make individual plans that are the core of your future together. Exploring techniques that build through designed learning experience.

SPRING PUPS – Let’s Learn Together?

Sometimes it does not matter that you have reared many pups without any problems but it is a journey that at times can feel a bit lonely, particularly if this pup turns into a Super Learner.

This Build The Future will have a Puppy Track looking in more detail at:

The proprioceptive skills for each individual at their own developmental stage.

Graduating the pup from passive learning to active learning and reducing management necessities such as crates etc.

Key Lifeskills: for your lifestyle and expectations, familiarisations plans and a focus on what is relevant to their future with you.

You can also select a specific learning plan, whether for sports, integration with other family members or to get you pass the adolescent hump; not humping, just The Hump of Learning or in some cases it may be a sink hole.

Learning as a group brings a richer learning experience. We learn from others travelling along the same path and adapting the learning to differing structures, age, experience, confidence and skills. One person’s creativity may be exactly the solution you are seeking.

INDIVIDUAL PROJECT

Of your choice that lights your passion or activity that you particularly want to develop your own skills for. This will need a clear outline of what you would like to achieve, a plan, progress and reflection of learning. It can be one aspect of a larger, long term project or goal or just the first step of a good foundation.

Please note: I will only consider projects that are within my own ethos and ability to contribute experience of value: this excludes activities of hunting or killing wildlife; bite sports, or activities that I would consider unsuitable for an individual. Please ask before enrolling if there are any questions.

HAVE YOU THE TIME?

Learning surrounds us when we give it space and room to breathe. It is in every minute we are together. This type of learning is a process of thinking as we do the specific activities but also the watching and listening as well as the walking and washing up.

Community learning is about sharing ideas, reflecting on progress and actively engaging with others …. but dry your hands first.

The three core skills courses are my body of work that will get you started with best foot forward, many steps, many moments, a pathway. Resources for support, for fallback that will grow as your skills grow. For life.

For this course you will need to be Setter Member and be familiar with the Build the Learning material that is included in the member’s library.

If you are enthusiastic about learning, developing and building your relationship, connection and skills then you will be very welcome. This is unlikely to be a walk in the park, at times it may be hard work, it will require purposeful thinking as well as quality time spent with your dog. It will not be time wasted.

I will challenge you to do better work, explore new ideas, rethink what you thought you knew. Surround yourself working alongside others and spending your time with your dog working on a project of your passion in your individual situation and relationship.

Doing the work that leads to the most learning.

This course includes:

A review of up to 9 minutes of video per week

➤  Regular feedback, questions and coaching from me and the group

The privilege of sharing the learning of fellow travelers

➤  Weekly live sessions (Tuesdays, 1700 GMT) for discussions, ideas and question time. All sessions are recorded and kept in the archive for the whole course.

Reflection on individual learning is integral with progress and a non-optional requirement. Feedback from me is dependent on this process. Lack of participation may result in limited continuation.

You will create your own journal, plans, project, video progress, lifestyle and activities.

Not for you

If you plan to be a passive spectator, auditor or intend to harvest material generated by the work of others then this course is not for you. You will be given two weeks to demonstrate active participation after which your access to the community will be limited.

This type of learning requires committment and although best intentions can be shoved aside by life’s interruptions, you must notify me if you are unable to continue and we can look at other options.

Build the Learning Course:

This is accessible in the Setter Library and part of your membership.

You should be familiar with the material in this course before you begin.

Spring Pups

I would advise familiarity with the Management or Training Course for specific help during the first few months.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions about the course or your choice of project: email kay

You can join the Build The Future courses at any time. Become part of a welcoming and dynamic learning community and let the voyage begin. These are just some of the comments from BTF participants:

“Build The Future Course has been an absolute revelation for me, has done wonders for Tighnearnan physically and mentally, and has been such a pleasure. I was really worried about how little experience and knowledge I was bringing to it, but Kay and my classmates were wonderfully encouraging and helpful, and I learned so much that I can transfer and apply in so many scenarios.”

“I have never been in a class with so much vigor to learning, so much striving to give and to try so hard to learn new ways and understand. All of this centered around providing the best for the pups!”

The importance of thinking in terms of developing skills rather than building behaviours”

“The value of a dynamic and engaged learning community where everyone’s working on different skills from which I can learn in so many diverse ways.”

“We discovered more about each other, learned to communicate better, and shared so much pleasure at creating and exploring together.”
